The MRCP is a post graduate level qualification in general medicine which is awarded by the Royal Colleges Of Physicians(UK) on successfully completing of the training and examination conducted by the above mentioned institutions.It has three parts:

  • MRCP(UK) Part 1
  • MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written
  • MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical (PACES).

Successful completion of the entire three-part examination is required before you get the certificate and start specialist internal medicine training in the UK. Internationally, the MRCP(UK) is also a valued professional degree.

ELIGIBILITY

The eligibility for MRCP is to complete MBBS and 12 months of internship.

PATTERN OF MRCP

This course has three parts :-

Part 1: It is an entry level examination for the MBBS pass out doctors.

  • one-day examination
  • two three-hour papers
  • 200 mutiple-choice (best of five) questions
  • no images
  • sat in an examination hall.

This exam takes place thrice in a year.

Examination fee of part 1 is £594 for international students.

Part 2 : It is a written examination and can be taken by the physians in training whohave already cleared the part 1 exam.

  • three papers taken over two days
  • papers last three hours
  • 270 multiple choice questions (best of five)
  • questions include images
  • sat in an examination hall.

This exam takes place thrice in a year.

Examination fee of part 2 is £594 for international students.

Paces : This is the final part of the assessment where candidates are assessed on their ability to carry out essential clinical skills.

  • half-day examination
  • takes place in a clinical setting (hospital or clinical skills centre)
  • assesses seven core skills
  • five stations
  • eight patient encounters
  • two independent examiners at each station
  • each candidate is assessed independently by a total of 10 examiners.

Exam centres can be both UK and INDIA (Bengaluru,Kochi,Kolkata,Chennai,New Delhi)

Examination fee of paces is £1202 (if exam is taken in INDIA)

Or  £657 (in UK centres)
